Ryan Rose is the Rise & Shine and Noon Meteorologist at KMVT News.
Ryan joined the KMVT News family in March of 2018 and is proud to provide an accurate forecast for southern Idaho on Rise & Shine and KMVT News at noon.
He graduated from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and a minor in Atmospheric Science. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah, and that is where his love of meteorology stems from.
It all began when he was 5 years old. He couldn’t go to bed before watching the weather every night. When a cold front was due to arrive in the middle of the night, Ryan would set his alarm just to go outside and feel the changes in the air.
While in college, Ryan had two internships. One was at KUTV in Salt Lake City where he learned how to forecast the weather. Ryan is proud to say that his other internship was right here in Twin Falls under the direction of Brian Neudorff. He would make the 3-hour drive to Twin Falls two to three times a week for 4 months just to get the experience he needed to get his first job.
Ryan’s first gig was in Great Falls, Montana, as a weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter where he honed his skills in front of the camera. He worked there for 10 months before moving to St. Joseph, Missouri. While in Missouri, Ryan did everything from working as the morning meteorologist, to weekends, to filling in for the Chief Meteorologist, to reporting.
After working in Missouri for almost two years, he and his wife decided that it’s time to get back to the West.
Ryan and his wife love going for walks and taking time to enjoy the area. They are happy to call Twin Falls their home.
