BOISE, Id. (KMVT/KSVT) Oscar–winning character actor George Kennedy has died.
The brawny Kennedy won a best supporting actor Oscar for his role as the convict "Dragline" in 1967’s "Cool Hand Luke."
He was a staple in such 1970’s disaster epics as "Earthquake" and the "Airport" movies.
He also brought the laughs as a police detective in the "Naked Gun" trilogy.
Kennedy appeared in more than 180 movies and TV shows in a career spanning almost 60 years. His grandson says Kennedy died Sunday in Meridian, Idaho.
He was 91 years old.
