The 6th annual Avenues for Hope began today with its goal of raising funds to help 44 nonprofits from across the state.

The organization focuses on programs that care for the homeless and assist those looking for housing.

Three non-profits will be benefiting locally here in southern Idaho; the Mini-Cassia Shelter, South Central Community Action Partnership and Voices against Violence.

“Many people use to rely on direct mail campaigns or rely heavily on federal funds and those just weren't meeting the needs for their year round demands,” said Deanna Ward, Director of Development. “So this campaign can help them fill those gaps and many of them just use this as their primary fundraising activity for the year.”

You can donate by going online to the website, where you can direct your gift of $25 or more to one or more of the nonprofits.

The campaign ends on December 31st.
