Avalanches in the Wood River Valley shut down parts of State Highway 75 and damaged a couple of homes.

A section of the highway on Tuesday morning was impassible, according to the Idaho Transportation Department 511 website. The section of road is between Chocolate Gulch Road and Frenchman Creek Road. ITD's website initial listed the closure went to State Highway 21, near Stanley. ITD cautioned drivers to be watchful of drifting snow on roadways.

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office said an avalanche occurred at about 11 p.m. Monday and sent snow, trees and debris through home on Audubon Place in East Fork. No one was injured.

According to a news release, Audubon Place reopened Tuesday morning, but was closed at East Fork Road and two residence voluntarily evacuated. Damage to one of those homes was discovered Tuesday morning.

The debris field temporarily blocked the Big Wood River and the river now appears to be flowing normally, the news release said.

Avalanche activity temporarily blocked the northbound lane of State Highway 75 at Lake Creek, north of Ketchum, and on Della Mountain, just west of Hailey. Neither two slides impact residences or caused injury.

An Avalanche Warning is in effect for all zones in Blaine County and the danger is high at all elevations.

The Blaine County Sheriff Steve Harkins advises residence to maintain “situational awareness” and to be alert for signs of avalanche, ice dams or related flooding.

“If you feel you are in danger, do not wait for an evacuation order,” he said in the news release.
