HAZELTON, Id. ( KMVT / KSVT ) The Care Convoy is back at it!
Thanks to the non-profit, this retired firetruck donated by the City of Hazelton will now save lives again in the Chihuahua state of Mexico.
Tuesday morning, Director and Founder of the non-profit, Todd Jaynes will accompany a representative from the Mexican community on a three day drive to reach the final destination South of the country's border.
Along with the truck, the City of Hazelton is donating fire hose and turnouts, adding up to an estimated $15,000 to $20,000 in value.
Todd Jaynes explains the viability of the donation system facilitated by Care Convoy.
"Care Convoy takes items that can be used somewhere.
It's either because it's due to regulations or outdates that they can't use it here or they replace it, and so it's just best to send it somewhere else.
We've sent to countries in South America, Central America, Africa, and we donate a lot locally, we help our neighbors first."
Over the past six years, the Care Convoy delivered over $15 million in fire, rescue, and medical equipment around the world and locally.
