Across the nation, cattle prices have become softer.

Since last year, they have been dropping.

But, prices in the past were higher.

They have seen decreases since the second half of 2015.

There are a few arguments as to why.

One agriculture economist explains one of these reasons.

"Feed was so inexpensive that ranchers, cattlemen sometimes overly fed their cattle and with the pricing system they were penalized for too heavy carcass. That's one of the most typical reasons,” said Hernan Tejeda, Agriculture Economist and University of Idaho Assistant Professor.

He said that future prices may remain soft and unchanged for the next few months.

The future indicates prices will drop a bit more.
