2 drivers taken to hospital following Jerome crash, US 93 lanes reopen

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — UPDATE: 6 p.m.:
Idaho State Police said they responded to a two-vehicle crash at 12:13 p.m. on US 93 near the Flying J truck stop.

Cindy Leonard, 70, from Hailey, was driving a 1998 Honda CRV north on US 93. She approached the traffic light for the Interstate 84 ramp and failed to stop at the red light.

She then hit a 2015 GMC Sierra driven by Franklin Bowen, 58, from Burley.

Both Leonard and Bowen were taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley in Twin Falls.

They were both wearing seat belts.

The southbound lanes of US 93 were blocked for about two hours.

Jerome Rural Fire Department, Jerome County Sheriff’s Department and Magic Valley Paramedics also responded to the crash.

UPDATE (3 p.m.)
Two drivers of the vehicles were taken to area hospitals after a SUV and a pickup truck crashed Thursday afternoon near the Flying J in Jerome.

The crash blocked southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 93 in front of the travel center. Idaho State Police said the crash occurred at about noon. Southbound traffic was diverted onto Interstate 84.

“There's not a lot of information we have,” Sgt. Julie Donahue. “But we're going to have a recon come and look at it. Right now we just southbound diverted back on to the interstate, so they need to go up the next exit the 168 Jerome exit and then come back if their headed east on the interstate.”

Lanes were reopened at about 2 p.m. ISP is investigating the crash. Jerome Rural Fire Department, Jerome County Sheriff’s Department and Magic Valley Paramedics also responded to the crash.

INITIAL STORY;
Idaho State Police are on-scene of a car crash near the Flying J in Jerome.

ISP sent out a news release saying southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 93 was blocked, just north of Interstate 84. The crash occurred about noon Thursday and a news release was issued at about 12:30 p.m.
