Equipment failure causes Gooding power outage, one school closed

Area Gooding residents were without power Wednesday morning due to equipment failure.

Idaho Power spokeswoman Lynette Standley said a failure on a transmission line caused two distribution lines to fault at about 5:05 a.m. The outage affected about 2,500 people most of the power was restored by 5:54 a.m. after rerouting power. The remaining 13 customers were expected to have power restored by 9 a.m.

The area affected included 1950 South to 1500 South and from 1800 East to 2100 East

Gooding North Valley Academy closed Wednesday due to the power outage. School officials made that call before the power came back on-line.
