Gemstone Climbing aims to help people reach new heights with scholarship

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Gemstone Climbing Center is aiming for new heights to help people overcome obstacles in their life.

The climbing gym is accepting applications for their scholarship program. The scholarship will help pay for membership dues, climbing school and other services the gym offers.

Hailey Barnes, the general manager, said in the past they've partnered with Bridge Academy, an alternative middle school and has seen how climbing has impact the students in a positive way.

"Their counselor sees a big difference, their teachers see a big difference," Barnes said. "We just want to reach out to more and bring climbing into their life."

Barnes said they're partnering with United Way of South Central Idaho for the program.

"They're need based, whether you need 25 percent scholarship, 50 percent, 75, 100 percent scholarship whatever works for your financial needs, that's what we'll try to match at," Barnes said.

Barnes said there is no deadline for the applications. Find more information on Gemstone Climbing's website.
