Head-on collision kills Hagerman and Twin Falls men

A Hagerman man died Thursday morning after a head-on collision with a semi-truck pulling sugar beets.

Idaho State Police said at about 2:21 a.m. Thomas Stowell, 27, of Hagerman, drove westbound in a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer full of firewood as Jason Roberts, 64, of Twin Falls, drove eastbound in a semi-truck pulling two trailers of sugar beets on U.S. Highway 30 a couple miles west of Filer. Both lanes of travel were blocked for seven hours.

ISP investigates the crash and said Stowell crossed left of the center line and collided head-on with Roberts. Stowell succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Roberts was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected and then transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center, according to a news release.

Early Thursday afternoon, ISP annoucned Roberts died to his injuries.
