ORIGINAL 1/29:
The Idaho legislative Health and Welfare committee proposed a new bill for a more concise suicide hotline phone number.

The committee wants to designate the number 611 to be the official number for the National Suicide Prevention and Health Crisis hotline phone number.

According to the committee, 611 is the only undesignated number that ends in "11" that is available.

The committee believes this would be simple and logical to move to.

If the Idaho Legislature approves the measure, they will then have to go through the Federal Communications Commission for approval.
