250 Blaine County families to receive holiday baskets

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Hundreds of people from Blaine County showed up to volunteer for the annual Sun Valley Realtors Give Foundation Shopping Day at Target.

The annual event supports families in need in Blaine County. Volunteers shopped for clothes, shoes and items families might not be able to afford.

“This year we have over 250 families sign up that’s almost 700 kids we’re shopping for,” said Program Director Brandee Smith.

Smith recognizes the event being successful over the years because of the community

“It’s the entire valley that comes together to do this,” she said. “We have volunteers come from small businesses. We have Realtors we have kids come from the schools to help us put this together it’s really the entire community.”

The funds for the holidays baskets are raised in June through the Sun Valley’s Realtor Golf Tournament. After the shopping, Smith said they organize a Santa’s workshop in Hailey and gift-wrapped all the holiday baskets and provide a Christmas dinner sometime in December.

“The toys, the books, the toothbrushes we wrap them all up they look so nice for Christmas and the families come, the entire building is decorated,” Smith said.
