BLISS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - Idaho Power shut down one generator at the Bliss Power Plant for complete maintenance work.
Since the beginning of the year, crews have been working to completely refurbish the turbine and rebuild the generator.
After functioning for the past three decades, officials removed the turbine and generator from the power plant and renewed everything, which should also last the next 25 to 30 years.
"They're putting the coil in the iron. They're setting that coil in there. They're driving wedges in there and then they're tying those coils back.," said Wade Dutt, the generation maintenance leader of Idaho Power. "So it's just kind of a standard process. We'll do that 330 more times."
All the work is being done in-house, which will save the company money and assure quality control.
Work on the project will persist through the rest of the year.
In the meantime, the two other units continue to produce electricity at the plant.
