The 2019 First Lego League South Idaho Championship made its way to Twin Falls on Saturday at South Hills Middle School.

More than 45 teams from across southern Idaho competed in building and programming robots to complete certain scenarios.

The league is presented by the Micron Foundation and University of Idaho Extension Robotics.

The teams went through two-part challenges and were asked to identify and solve a physical or social problem one faces during space exploration.

A participant told KMVT, the challenges make everyone think outside the box.

"Each year we get a new theme, they assign to us, we built the mission models and we built a robot to see how, it can complete those mission models," said Porter Cox, a Burley Jr. High student. "Then there's like 10 or 11 mission models that people do once you complete them you get a certain amount of points."
