Burley elementary students participate in random acts of kindness

BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) A Burley educator is teaching students how they can change the world, one act of kindness at a time.

Para-educator Gail Palomarez at John V. Evans Elementary is leading the Random Acts of Kindness Program at the school.

Palomarez explained how students participate in collecting food items and then they'll be donated to local shelters. The students also decorate the classroom doors with inspirational phrases. It's all an effort to get students involved in the community.

"We want to build up our school, we want our school to be a wonderful place," Palomarez said. "It's wonderful to see the kids doing acts of kindness and taken a part, and really concentrating on being better, which is wonderful."

At the the end of the program, the classroom with the best decorations and kindness message will be awarded a pizza party, Palomarez explained.
