(KMVT/KSVT) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced plans to consolidated future general conference sessions.
The church’s Council of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve made the announcement in a letter to church leadership on Thursday.
According to information on the LDS church’s newsroom website, beginning April 2018, the general priesthood sessions and the general women’s conference being each be held annually. The general priesthood conference will be held in April and the general women’s session will be in October.
According to the letter, consolidating general conference sessions into one weekend furthers Church efforts "of reducing and simplifying the work of the Church and the demands made upon leaders and members."
