TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Twin Falls played host to a gymnastics meet January 4 and 5, with Magic Valley Gymnastics hosting their annual Ice Breaker Invitational.
Magic Valley coach Sabrina Leuthauser said it’s the first meet of the season and helps get the girls ready to compete in more serious competitions.
"This kind of kicks off our competition season. It's really just a good chance for the girls to get out in their home gym and you know, work on their skills and kind of show off what they've learned,” Leuthauser stated.
Leuthauser also explained that there were two other teams as well.
"We have a team, Elevate, from Burley, and Advanced from Boise," Leuthauser stated.
KMVT talked with a few gymnasts from Magic Valley Gymnastics to see what their favorite things to compete on are.
Laynee Jensen said her favorite event is the floor.
Trudy Maddox and Baylee Kelly both said their favorite apparatus are the uneven bars.
In all, there were 130 kids competing, which is less than they normally see.
"It’s actually pretty small for this year, I'm not sure what an average is. I mean, probably in the 200's. So it’s a pretty small meet, which is fine by us this year,” Leuthauser explained.
