Magic Valley veterans group seeks volunteer drivers

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Many veterans in the Magic Valley rely on the DAV van. A free service that provides transportation to the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the van transports veterans from Rupert, Burley, to Wendell and all throughout the Magic Valley.

The Twin Falls County veterans are looking for volunteers.

Bob Jackson, a volunteer, says it can cause a problem for veterans if they unexpectedly lose drivers.

“But If you lose a driver on a particular day, and we don't have that someone to take that drivers place,” Jackson said, “then the veterans themselves have to call the Boise VA and either cancel their appointments that for other day or reschedule some other time of the week. And that's really not fair for them if they have medical issues that need to be attentive right away."

If you want to volunteer as a driver call the Twin Falls Veterans Service Office at 208-734-9091.
