TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A 21-year-old man received a 30 year sentence for trafficking heroin on Wednesday in Twin Falls.

The courts sentenced Dakota Dean Turner to serve a minimum of 13 years on five drug trafficking charges before being eligible for parole. The court also ordered him to pay $45,000 in fees.

Turner received an enhanced sentence on one count for selling within 1,000 feet of school property.

According to court documents, in November 2016 Idaho State Police made undercover purchases of heroin from Turner in Twin Falls. Turner told police he went to Utah every day to buy from his source. He told the undercover officers to be careful with the heroin since “like five people” have died off it.

Undercover officer purchased more than 18 grams of heroin from Turner.
