Mountain Rides considers electric bus, new executive director plans for innovation

KETCHUM, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Mountain Rides in the Wood River Valley have chosen their new Executive Director Wallace E. Morgus to take over the day to day operations.

Morgus is expected to start his new position on April 23rd, but has already express to take Mountain Rides on its next innovation growth transportation.

“I’m happy to be part of the organization. I think it’s a very strong organization. I’m not approaching as being complacent about it, I think we still have opportunities to innovate and grow,” Morgus said.

One of the innovations Morgus and Mountain Rides board of directors have express interest is bringing the electric bus to the Wood River Valley.

Morgus and board members were able to hop on board a 40 feet electric bus earlier this month.

“We’re taking a look at it with this particular manufacturer, they have their bus out on the road, kind of doing a dog and pony shows if you will at agencies that are interested in the electric bus,” Morgus said. “We’re certainly interested.”

The demo electric bus started its route at Sun Valley going through Bellevue for a day.

“That’s probably out at least a year in half maybe two years. Maybe in 2019 we’ll get that done so that’s one of the focus in respect to growth and innovation,”Morgus said.
