Murtaugh superintendent recognized for state award

MURTAUGH, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) A Magic Valley superintendent was recognized for her leadership in public education.

Murtaugh School District Superintendent Michele Capps was honored for the 2019 District Leadership Award by the Idaho Association School Administrators.

Capps was awarded based on several factors which include advocating for academic achievement, integrating new technology and providing teaching methods to benefit the district's students.

"It really is an honor," Capps said. "But more so just to represent the district. It just shows the changes that we've made that someone has recognized what Murtaugh is doing. We have just been really progressive and we hired all the right people. We have excellent teachers."

Capps has been the superintendent for the past 11 years and also serves as the principal for the district's elementary school.
