No access to City of Rocks from Oakley

OAKLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - Road closures continue from Oakley to the City of Rocks National Reserve.

Emery Pass remains closed since late last year due to a three to four foot snow drift.

Junction Road and Twin Sisters is now closed due to a washout.

Reserves Superintendent Wallace Keck told us the roads are technically open since they belong to the Cassia County Road and Bridge Department, but there are road closure signs in place for your safety.

"Unfortunately, we're seeing a lot of folks that just naturally say 'Well, Oakley is the shortest way according to their gps units to get to the park' so they drive around the sign and they find themselves 14–15 miles down the road and in trouble," said Keck.

Keck says about six vehicles got stuck over the last few weeks.

He hopes to get Twin Sisters attended to within a week and crews will work to reopen Emery Pass by Monday.

In the meantime, if you need to get to the reserve from Oakley, you are advised to take Highway 77 south through Albion.
