(KMVT/KSVT) - According to AAA, more than 280,000 Idahoans will be among those traveling for this year's Turkey Day festivities.
That's more than five percent increase since last year and the most since 2005. The Travel Safety Administration is expecting this year's Thanksgiving travel season to be the busiest on record. 53 million Americans are expected to travel for Thanksgiving in total. Some of those travelers will be making their way to Twin Falls.
"We've seen a little increase at all three of your properties. We do have the Hampton Inn, The Holiday Inn Express, and the Quality Inn and Suites and at all three, we've seen a little increase this Thanksgiving holiday over the past few Thanksgivings," Hampton Inn Sales Manager David Ahrens said. "So definitely seeing what AAA is saying a little increase."
Out of all this year's holiday travelers, 89 percent are expected to travel via automobile, with the remaining by plane. When choosing a day to fly for this Thanksgiving holiday, AAA recommends travelers purchase a ticket for Nov. 22, which is expected to have the least amount of congestion for this years travel season.
