Minidoka county sheriff officials say a Rupert woman who was found dead inside a pickup that was submerged in a canal appears to have died from a medical condition. Chief Deputy Dave Pinther said Barbara Piotrowski, 57, was reported missing by family members just before midnight Monday.

Piotrowski was driving a blue 2005 Chevrolet pickup. Soon after deputies began the search, near her home just after midnight Tuesday morning, they spotted the tail-lights in the canal. The woman lived at 625 East 425 North in Minidoka County.

Pinther said officers also spotted the tracks where the vehicle went off the gravel canal bank and came to rest in the water.

Lucky Bourn, the County Coroner said he was not ordering an autopsy. The pickup and the womans body was recovered around 1:30 a.m. by the Minidoka County Dive Team and the Mini-Cassia Search and Rescue’s Dive Team.
