Salmon Creek Reservoir cleared from harmful algae blooms

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) The South Central Public Health District (SCPHD) and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) are lifting the public health advisory for Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir.

Recent testing showed micro-toxins are now at safe levels in the water. However, the health advisory for Mormon Reservoir remains in place as that reservoir's harmful algal bloom persists.

Harmful blooms are more common in warm water during the summer and typically shrink quickly in the mid to late fall as the water temperature drops.

The DEQ will continue to monitor water quality until the bloom in Mormon Reservoir dissipates and will advise the public when the concern there no longer exists.
