BOISE, Idaho (AP) An Idaho school district and a girl who sued after she was sexually assaulted by an older student reached a settlement hours after sending a jury to deliberate in the federal case.
The trial lasted a week and jurors began deliberating on Friday after hearing emotional closing arguments from both sides. But a few hours into their deliberations, both sides announced they reached a settlement, ending the case.
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
The girl was 13 when she was assaulted by the older student in the school's computer lab. She sued under a federal anti-sex discrimination law, contending the school created a hostile environment and favored the older student when she reported the incident.
