Special Olympic state Summer Games kick off in Twin Falls

Special Olympics Idaho's 46th annual State Summer Games kicked off Friday evening.

The event is Special Olympics Idaho's largest competition of the year, featuring nearly 1,000 athletes from around the state.

The opening ceremony at Canyon Ridge High School was emceed by KMVT chief meteorologist Brian Neudorff and featured a special speaking engagement from Chobani's founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya.

"Being here in Twin Falls, hosting the Idaho Games in Twin Falls – it just doesn't get any better than that. I wish so many other people will come and see the games tomorrow," said Ulukaya.

The games kick off Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from Canyon Ridge High School and the city pool.
