It may not be an ideal time of year to try and lose weight with all of the upcoming holiday parties, but a good goal is to just maintain your current weight.
If you're doing the hosting, try swapping out some food items for healthy alternatives.Try zucchini boats or roasted chickpeas to add to the spread. Even pita chips are a healthier option.
“Make sure you're surveying your buffet choices when it comes to the food if you're at a holiday party,” said Dianna Zunino, registered dietitian. “Survey all of your options and then choose what looks best to you. And again just choose smaller portions make sure you always have some fruits and vegetables on your plate.”
Another good thing to keep in mind is that many alcoholic beverages contain a lot of calories, so keep your drinking to a minimum or switch to a lower calorie option.
