Study: Four Magic Valley counties make financially healthy places list

GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) A new study shows four Magic Valley counties made the top 10 list for the most financially healthy places to live.

The report comes from SmartAssest, a New York based financial technology company.

The report analyzed debts, bankruptcy, poverty, and unemployment levels in the state.

Cassia, Minidoka and Twin Falls counties were just a few named, including Gooding county, ranking in the number one spot.

KMVT spoke with Becca Pereira, vice president of Sliman & Butler Irrigation, Inc. in Gooding, and she said she was surprised by the report but can see why Gooding made the list.

"We're a small community," Pereira said. "Some poeple refer to Gooding as the bedroom community for Twin Falls. That does surprise me in some ways, but in other ways it doesn't. It's a great place to raise your children. It's a great place to build a family."

Pereira said the business has served the community for about 40 years.

While Gooding ranked in number one, it was followed by Minidoka in second place, Cassia in fourth and Twin Falls coming in tenth.
