(KMVT/KSVT) - The Suicide Prevention Action Network of Idaho announced they will be shutting down after almost 17 years.
SPAN Idaho started out as a small group back in the early 2000's. In a release, the group said they had to dissolve as they have financial issues. They stated that they do not have a stable, ongoing source of revenue.
There are different chapters of SPAN across the state and they have the option to continue their services.
Donna Stalley, the president of the south central Idaho chapter, said they plan to go on, even if the state level office is closing down.
"Sixteen years we've been here. Our suicide support group for anybody's who lost somebody they care about to suicide, that's been going on for five years and we'll continue with that," she said. "So if somebody needs a presentation, they can call. We'll help."
If you or someone you know may need help in south central Idaho, call Stalley at 208-420-9208.
Now that the state office is closing down, the individual chapters have to find their own insurance as well as pursue their own non-profit status, Stalley said.
The state office will be closing down the March 1, 2019.
