TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - Twin Falls firefighters responded to a fire at Sushi Tokyo after an early morning fire on Oct. 9. Six months later, owner Tony Tse is still trying to put things back together. The fire sparked after employees threw crumbs from the deep fryer in a trash can. They self-ignited in the middle of the night.
The restaurant was a loss, so now Sushi Tokyo is in the middle of a complete interior makeover. After getting through insurance proceedings and the holidays, they started renovations at the beginning of this year. Tse says he’s fortunate most of his employees will come back when they reopen.
“To all my customers, thanks for being patient and all my employees, thanks for being patient, also. This is a process, so it’s not something that we can flip the sign and open tomorrow,” Tony Tse, Sushi Tokyo owner, says.
If everything goes smoothly, he expects to be open in a month or two. Tse says they’ll change a few things, but the menu will mostly stay the same. He says the staff is excited to get back to work.
