Tens of thousands of dollars raised for Voices Against Violence

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Local celebrities put on their dancing shoes and hit the stage for those in need.

The first dancing with the twin falls stars hit the stage of the Orpheum Theater, Nov. 30, and only one contestant was walking away with a mirror ball trophy.

This wasn't a competition though for the best dancer, it was all about raising money and awareness for Voices Against Violence.

When the Utah Ballroom Dance Company approached the VAV board they immediately said yes.

Donations are still rolling in but the event raised over $17,000.

"They chose the highest amount that I gave them to raise because it was up to them,” said Donna Graybill, Director of Voices Against Violence. “They worked hard, most of them made their fundraising goals. Then they had to learn this dance in one week, it was really intense and they were so positive and gracious. I am just so inspired to work with them."

Graybill hopes that this will become an annual event. If it does that will make four major fundraisers the organization hosts a year.
