Two Twin Falls choir teams unite as one harmony, to perform in all-state conference

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Two Twin Falls female choir teams are practicing for an all-state conference in February.

Robert Stuart Middle School's Bel Canto and O'Leary Middle School's The Chantaire are teaming up together to perform at the Idaho Music Educators Association All-State Conference at Brigham Young University in Rexburg.

"There were only 11 spots to be filled and we were one of the 11," said Choir teacher Karen Palmer. "We're the only middle school choir that's performing in this event."

About 54 entries were submitted to be part of the conference and Palmer said it's been at least a decade since a Twin Falls school performed at the event.

Palmer has been rehearsing with the teams for several weeks now and Robert Stuart student Jocelyn Tanner said it's been a good experience to be singing in unison with all the girls.

"We focus on tone a lot," Tanner said.

"You get to hear different voices and tones and you get to start learning new techniques," said O'Leary Middle School student Audrey Fish.

The conference will be from Jan 31 through Feb 2. and Palmer hopes other Idaho music educators will be inspired by the girls performance.
