TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - UPDATE 7/16 1 p.m.:
A fight between two men escalated, ending up with one man stabbed and taken to the hospital Monday evening in Twin Falls.

According to court documents, a little before 7 p.m., officers were called out to a report that a man had been stabbed in the chest with a knife. The man was located in the parking lot of Mr. Gas on Blue Lakes Blvd. North.

The man was in the driver's seat and a woman passenger was with him.

The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Magic Valley and then later taken to Saint Alphonsus in Boise for further medical treatment of the stab wound to his chest.

Officers found that the man was involved in a physical fight with another male named Richard Samson, 27.

The fight occurred in the intersection of Lincoln Street and Northview Drive in Twin Falls.

A neighbor saw the fight and called it in. She said she saw one of the men driving away in a white car.

The female passenger spoke to police, who said she was with Samson at his place and said that he was jealous of her relationship with the victim.

The female said she was walking away from Samson’s residence when the man pulled up and she got in the car with him.

Samson then saw her get in the car and he started chasing the car. The driver then stopped, got out of his car and they began to fight.

While they were in the fight, court documents said Samson pulled a knife out of his pocket but the female was able to have him drop the knife.

When they stopped fighting, they got back into the car when Samson came up next to the driver’s side door and allegedly stabbed the driver in the chest.

After the incident, Samson ran from the fight. The man with the stab wound was able to drive his vehicle to Mr. Gas when the female passenger called for help.

She described the knife as a black handle knife, about four to five inches long.

A search warrant was obtained for Samson’s residence, along with finding drug paraphernalia and six bags with white powder residue. Authorities tested the white powder residue with a methamphetamine specific field test kit and received a positive test result.

Court documents say Samson was located around 8:10 p.m. and was arrested for aggravated battery and possession of methamphetamine.

Samson’s initial appearance in court is Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Twin Falls County.

KMVT called Saint Alphonsus for a patient condition update on the victim, but it could not be released due to a crime being involved.

Samson is being held on a $750,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 26 at 8:15 a.m.
