Twin Falls student presented Spirit of Idaho award for organizing Homeless Stand Down

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) -- Madison Miller was awarded the Spirit of Idaho award Wednesday afternoon by Sen. Mike Crapo at the Salvation Army in Twin Falls.

Madison, a student at Xavier High School, organized the first Homeless Stand Down in Twin Falls as part of her senior project. The event took place March 16, serving more than 80 homeless and vulnerable individuals in the Twin Falls area.

According to a news release, participants were offered lunch, a haircut, coats, sleeping bags, backpacks, socks and other items. Informational booths were also setup to make people aware of services in the community.
