Twin Falls families get access to nutritional foods through a grant

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Twin Falls families will be getting access to nutritional foods this holiday season.

This effort comes from a partnership between the Chobani Foundation and Wholesome Wave.

One hundred and fifty families will receive $60 each month for six months to purchase fruits and vegetables. The families will also be receiving a supply of free yogurt.

The foundation provided a $200,000 grant for the program.

A spokesperson for Twin Falls Chobani said this effort is to address the challenges families have to accessing nutritional food.

"Really targeting the nutritional needs of some of the children in our area, whether they be facing some diseases or health concerns related to dietary needs or maybe they're undeserved and not getting the level of nutrition that they need. So we're really excited to have this wellness impact on the members of our community," said Alyson Outen, the spokesperson for Chobani.

Wholesome Wave is a national non-profit organization that helps undeserved communities have access to healthy foods.
