Vehicle break-ins spike over weekend

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Saturday and Sunday seven vehicles were broken into around Twin Falls, bringing the month of January’s total to 28.

The Twin Falls Police Department is actively investigating all burglaries, and are working on non-disclosable operations to catch the person or people responsible.

Victim’s windows have been smashed and different items taken but mostly purses.

Until the thieves are caught the TFPD wants to remind community members to keep valuables out of sight but preferably don't leave them in the car in the first place.

“A lot of this is happening under the street lights and in parking lots in the evenings. We're asking our community if you see something call us please. Even if it's something suspicious call us. If you see people in the parking lot let us know, let us look into it,” explained Officer JP O’Donnell.

The break-ins have occurred all over Twin Falls ranging from downtown's Main Avenue, Fourth Avenue North, Pole Line Road and Blue Lakes Boulevard.

The police department is encouraging the community to be vigilant and if you see something suspicious call it in. Contact Twin Falls Police dispatch at 208-735-4357.
