TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) On February 2nd, the groundhog said that we would have an early spring. However, from that point on, old man winter wanted to prove him wrong as it seemed like it rained and/or snowed almost every day for the rest of the month and it seemed like we could never get a break from the cold temperatures for the rest of the month either. So now with February 2019 in the books, just how wet and cold was it? Find out that answer below along with some other statistics regarding the weather last month.

TEMPERATURES:

HIGH TEMPERATURES:

Maximum February high temperature: 55° on 2/1/2019 and 2/27/2019
Minimum February high temperature: 25° on 2/6/2019, 2/7/2019, 2/19/2019 and 2/21/2019
Average February high temperature: 37.5°

LOW TEMPERATURES:

Recorded low temperature above the average low temperature for that day: 12 days
Recorded low temperature the same as the average low temperature for that day: 1 day

Our average February 2019 temperature was 29.1° which is 3.8° colder than our climatological average February temperature of 32.9°. This means that February 2019 was COLDER than average in terms of temperature.

PRECIPITATION:

Maximum daily precipitation amount: 0.25 inches on 2/28/2019

Total monthly precipitation: 1.52 inches (+0.71 inches)

In February, we recorded 1.52 inches of precipitation, which is 0.71 inches above our average precipitation for February of 0.81 inches. This means that February 2019 was WETTER than average in terms of precipitation.

SNOWFALL:

We did receive snowfall this month in Twin Falls, but at the Magic Valley Regional Airport, where our records are kept, they did not record any measurable amounts of snowfall this month. That being said though, most locations in the Magic Valley received at least a foot of snow during February, with the mountains receiving several feet of snow during February.
