Officially, Twin Falls has not hit the 90 degree mark in 2017. It’s not with out opportunities. First opportunity was May 31 where the high temperature reached 89 out at the Magic Valley Regional Airport. This is the official reporting station for Twin Falls. Jerome managed to hit 90 on that day.
The next two opportunities occurred this past weekend on June 3 and 4. The high temperature was close but thanks to developing clouds and storms the temperatures was once again shy only reaching 89 on Saturday and 88 on Sunday. The weather forecast will give us a few more opportunities this week as we see temperatures sky rocket and peak by midweek.
Thanks to a cold front that swept through on Sunday with strong gusty winds, storms and blowing dust, Monday started the week off cool. Highs were only in the 70s. But warmer temperatures begin to return as soon as Tuesday. The forecast high Tuesday is just shy of 90 for Twin Falls at around 89 degrees but the hottest temperature this week could occur Wednesday with a forecast of 95 degrees. Thursday also has another shot of reaching 90 thanks to a large ridge of high pressure that will be over our region for the middle portion of the week.
All of this changes going into the end of the week and especially the weekend. Cooler air arrives Friday with highs returning to the 70s but by the weekend highs may only be in the 60s. There is a chance of showers and storm Friday and Saturday in Southern Idaho.
