HAILEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Wood River High School students are building a house. On Wednesday, the community will get a chance to see the work they've done so far during an open house presentation.
The project is part of the Residential Construction Academy at Wood River High School. Lead instructor Greg Urbany said the program allows students to learn the concepts of building a house.
"They learn all the framing techniques, they've learned how to roll trusses," Urbany said. "We're learning how to set doors and windows and read plans."
Eleven students are involved in the project. They started groundwork in March 2017.
Wood River High senior Garrett Lovell said he joined the program to learn more about residential construction.
"It's been a pretty fun project," Lovell. "I mean we did have some setbacks. We've learned how to work together well, learned how to do a task efficiently and properly."
The house is expected to be completed sometime in 2019. Once it's finished, it's put on the market to be called a home someday.
"I love doing it all," Lovell said. "Being part of every aspect of this house has helped me grow as a you know soon-to-be tradesman."
The open house will be in Hailey at 2761 Winterhaven Drive from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m
