Wrong-way driver causes crash on I-84

WENDELL, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) The Idaho State Police is investigating a head-on crash that resulted from a wrong-way driver.

Early Sunday around 1 a.m., ISP received a call there was a wrong-way driver headed west in the eastbound lanes on Interstate 84 near milepost 155. The vehicle ended up crashing a few minutes later at milepost 147, the Tuttle exit.

Police say an unknown driver and his passenger fled the scene on foot, after crashing their 2008 Saturn Vue head-on with a 2004 Audi A4. The driver of the Audi, Demetri Kondratyuk, 22, of Lincoln, NE and his passenger Bogdan Kondratyuk, 19, of Lincoln, NE, were transported by ground ambulance to North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding. Demetri and Bogdan were wearing seatbelts.

The eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately one and a half hours.

Idaho State Police was assisted at the scene by the Gooding County Sheriff's Office, Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Wendell Fire Department, and Gooding County Ambulance.
