Young kids learning ballroom dancing

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Ballroom dancing is a classical form of dance that young generations typically don't learn.

Lighthouse Christian School welcomed a dance teacher to share with their 3rd through 5th graders all the moves.

Xrossway Fitness and Life Center offers dance classes to multiple age groups. From adults to teens to young children and everywhere in between.

When dance instructor Kaishon Hamann reached out to Lighthouse Christian School it was his goal to introduce dancing to the younger students with the hopes of sparking their own creativity.

"So we really like the idea of dance being accessible to everyone. That it is a way of expression and a way of sharing fellowship with our fellow community members,” Kaishon Hamann said.

The third, fourth and fifth graders had six weeks of lessons twice a week to learn two memorable dances, the rumba and waltz. The two dances worked well because they used the same basic square step motions.

Kaishon is hoping to be invited to other schools in the area to share the expression of dance with them as well.
