BURLEY – Katherine Kay Blauer, 62-year-old Burley resident, passed away Feb. 7, 2019, in an automobile accident.
Kathy was born August 21, 1956, to Cecil Frank and Stella Muriel Cole Blauer. She graduated from Burley High School, Ricks College and Brigham Young University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Kathy enjoyed playing in the band in high school and enjoyed participating and competing with them.
After receiving her education, she served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas Houston Mission and appreciated the many experiences she had while serving. When she returned from that mission, she taught elementary school in Burley, Murtaugh, Malta, and in Utah. She appreciated teaching the children and put all her heart into helping her students enjoy school. Kathy taught school for 29 years. In 2012, she left her employment in Utah and came back to Burley to move in and help her aging parents.
Kathy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed participating in the various callings she received. Whenever she got a new calling, she put her whole heart into it and gave it all she had. She enjoyed family history and reading and learning about her ancestors. She loved her family and looked forward to spending time with all of them, especially her nieces and nephews. Family reunions were always enjoyable occasions. Kathy loved camping in the mountains and spending time in nature. She was an avid reader.
