1A state champion signs with ISU

HAZELTON, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Valley High School's Adam Elorrieta signed with Idaho State University track on Wednesday.

He met with the Bengals head coach over the summer during the Simplot track camp.

This stems after Elorrieta set the 1A state record in the high jump at the state championships in May. He jumped a height of 6' 7.5".

The previous state record was 6'7" set by Greg Langley of Cascade in 2002.

"Last season with my 6'7.5", I could have scored in conference for Idaho State so that was one of the big factors for the scholarship," explained Elorrieta.

He also looked at the College of Idaho program as well.

The Valley Boys Track team seeks its third consecutive state championship.
