Boarders flip for Wake in the Snake

BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) While the heat Saturday may have caused you to go find some water to jump into, wakeboarders were doing flips on top of it on the Snake River.

The 19th annual Wake in the Snake wakeboard competition got under way Saturday at River's Edge Golf Course in Burley.

The event featured around 50 competitors – mostly from here in Idaho and Utah.

Boarders were split up into nine different categories based on weight and age.

Athletes say it's a great event put on each year.

"This is a really unique and cool location. It's middle of the day and we've got pretty good water. If you're at a local reservoir in Utah it's packed. So this is an optimal place to have a wakeboard competition, it's been sweet," said Colin Steele, of Kaysville, Utah.

Wake in the Snake is organized by Idaho Watersports in Burley.
