Boise hosts X Games qualifier

BOISE, Idaho ( KBOI ) For the next two days athletes will take over Rhodes Skate Park in Boise at the X Games qualifier.

Their goal? Qualify for X Games Minneapolis 2017 in July.

Friday's games will determine who moves on to the final round on Saturday.

At Rhode's Skate Park, some of the best skateboard and BMX athletes in the world are showing off their skills.

They've come to Boise from all over to compete in this X Game qualifier competition.

Heimana Reynolds explained, "I'm from Honolulu Hawaii, and I'm so excited to be out here, this place is sick, it's such a cool opportunity to come out here for X Games in Idaho, I've never even been here before."

The athletes trying to make to the final round tomorrow include 20 women skateboarders.

Allysha Lee, skateboarder from California said, "the level of girl skateboarding has gone up so much and it's cool to see like a lot more girls out on the scene."

They hope they'll make a big enough impression to get invited to the X Games in Minneapolis next month.

Reynolds, "I hope to make it through to tomorrow and definitely make it on to Minneapolis but all and all I just want to do my best and have fun."

12:30 pm marks the women's skateboarding final round. 2:30, catch the men's skateboarding final and BMX goes at 4:30.
