Burley wins Idaho A State Legion Baseball Championship

LEWISTON, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) The Burley Green Sox are headed to the Regional A Legion Baseball Tournament for the first time since 2012.

You might remember last Sunday when we previewed the team, getting ready to head up to Lewiston.

Burley won four out of five games this week, including Sunday's 9-8 win over Rocky Mountain in the championship. This after they were down 8-2 in the fourth inning. Burley took the go-ahead lead in the fifth and never looked back.

The Green Sox turned a lot of heads, considering they were the three seed from the district tournament. It was far from easy, especially when coach Devin Kunz's nephew passed out in the dugout and went to the hospital.

"I'm just out there on the field crying I don't know if Owen is okay, I thought we were going to get ten runned and then oh my God, are we going to win this thing? It's just crazy," Kunz explained.

His nephew is doing better after hitting his head and suffering a concussion. Burley goes back up to Lewiston for regionals later this week.
