TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team was hungry for a win. After all, the Golden Eagles are trying to end a losing streak that put them at .500 in conference play.
On Thursday night CSI came out hungrier than Salt Lake, crashing the boards and boxing out, probably the best defensive performance fans have seen all season.
The Bruins made just one three pointer out of eight tries in the first half and overall shot 38% from the field. In comparison, the Golden Eagles made 60% of their three point attempts early on, shooting 57% from the field. That helped CSI break out to a 41-29 lead.
The teams put up similar numbers down the stretch and CSI pulled off the upset, 66-53.
Petra Farkas came off the bench to score a game-high 23 points. The league-leading scorer Lauren Gustin had 19 for SLCC, while her teammate Miki'ala Maio added 14.
CSI hosts Colorado Northwestern on Saturday at 3 p.m. for Sophomore Night.
