CSI Women's Basketball holds off No. 18 Georgia Highlands

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Sophomore Denajha Kie led the squad with 19 points and 12 rebounds as No. 14 beat No. 18 Georgia Highlands, 85-73.

Nicole Hein Suarez scored 16 points for CSI along with four steals and three rebounds. Mallory Lapoole added 12 points, while Allie Thayne produced nine points and 10 rebounds.

CSI went 11-25 (44 percent) from long range and 20-29 (69 percent) from the free-throw line. Georgia Highlands was 3-13 (23 percent) from the 3-point line and 10-19 (53 percent) from the free-throw line.

On Friday, the women defeated Williston State 104-54.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, Kie earned Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.

Kie averaged 16.5 points, 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal per game.

The sophomore knocked down 58 percent of her shots from the field and 57 percent from long distance. At the free-throw line, she was 7-for-8.

The Golden Eagles travels to Salt Lake to take on Western Wyoming and Utah Premier Friday and Saturday.
