TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) CSI Women's Basketball coach Randy Rogers didn't shy away from scheduling tough opponents to start off the season. The ladies traveled to Sheridan, Wyoming and Midland, Texas for tournaments, where they accumulated a 3-3 record.
They've lost to ranked opponents, but beat them as well, including Northeastern Oklahoma A & M.
Now after thousands of miles on the road, the team comes home for the first time this season.
CSI hosts Dawson Community College on Friday, followed by Minnesota State Community and Technical College on Saturday. The latter is a brand new school.
Returning to CSI after three plus years in the Army is Denajha Kie, who is leading the college in scoring with 14 points per game.
Rogers said, "she has always had a lot of confidence in herself and on the floor." "But this is a different experience for her since she is with kids that are not her age. And she has seen and done it all. She has been jumping out of airplanes in Germany so this is a whole new life for her."
Sophomore Mallory LaPoole chimed in, "I think we have a lot of talent. Last year we had a lot of hustle, defense was really good, we had a lot of hustle players." "But this year the talent is really good, so if we can get the hustle players and all that going, we'll be really good this year."
This weekend's games are part of the Idaho Central Credit Union Invite.
They start at 7:30 p.m. each night.
